Adding 4WD to the 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche LS reduces towing capacity to 8,000 pounds with the standard tow hitch and trailer wiring. But it adds extra road grip in slippery situations, featuring both mechanical and locking center differentials. A locking rear differential is optional. The on-demand 4WD features high- and low-range gearing for off-road potential. A 320-hp, 5.3-liter V8 powers the combination SUV/pickup, paired with a 4-speed automatic. It is also a Flex Fuel E85 vehicle.
Like the rear-wheel-drive model, the 2008 Avalanche LS 4WD comes with 5-star safety features, including 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires and a tire monitor, dual front and side impact airbags, stability control, rollover sensors, automatic headlights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, front and rear stabilizer bars, and side impact beams. OnStar is also standard.
Though utilitarian, able to extend its 5.2-foot bed to 8 feet with the removal of the midgate wall and window, the six-passenger Avalanche LS 4WD offers plenty of comfort. Full power features include a 6-way power driver's seat, heated mirrors, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls for the CD/MP3 player, satellite radio, and intermittent wipers. A tachometer, temperature display, and compass offer convenience. Leather trim, dual-zone climate control, eight front and rear cupholders, and front power outlets offer convenience. 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche LS
The 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche LS is a rear-wheel-drive pickup/SUV that seats six in two rows. The cargo bed starts at 5.2 feet and can hold 45 cubic feet. Rear seats split-fold 60/40, and the midgate wall can be removed separately or with the rear window, lengthening the bed to 8 feet. A hard cover and tie-downs are standard.
