CarGurus Overview

The base model of this popular mid-sized affordable sedan is the 2005 Ford Taurus SE, which comes well equipped with power features, cruise control, remote entry, a trip computer, a cassette player, a security system, a tachometer, intermittent wipers (and a rear wiper in the wagon), and a tilt steering wheel.  The interior is roomy enough for six, though four are more comfortable, and the wagon version can hold up to eight passengers with an optional rear-facing third row.  Trunk size in the sedan is 17 cubic feet, and the rear seats do not fold down.  The wagon starts with 38 cubic feet, and the seats fold down for up to 81 cubic feet of space.  The wagon also features a roof rack.

A 3.0-liter, 153-hp V6 and 4-speed auto tran are standard, though a twin-cam version of the V6 that delivers 201-hp is available.  Dual front airbags are standard, earning four and five-star ratings, but front-side airbags, ABS, traction, and stability control are optional.  There are plenty of options, including a power driver's seat, heated mirrors, leather upholstery, a sunroof, a CD player, and a rear spoiler.  There is also a flexible fuel option for the 2005 Ford Taurus SE.  Drivers like the roomy interior and affordability and the overall practicality.  Less than advertised 21/27 mpg, some engine and brake shudder, and cheap-looking interior materials mar the overall picture.

This overview covers the SE trim only.
