2002 Saturn VUE Overview
Overall User Score
Based on 8 reviews
Despite its unassuming appearance, the 2002 Saturn VUE uses innovative engine technology to transport families on the go. Other vehicles on the market have transmissions that utilize several gears. However, the 5 seat VUE uses continuous variable transmission (CVT) technology in its 4 cylinder model to provide continuity and a smooth ride. The Saturn CVT system (also known as VTi) compares favorably to similar technology used by Honda and Audi.
Consumers can choose from 3 different trims. The 2.2 liter 143 hp 4 cylinder comes with front wheel drive or all wheel drive and uses either the 5 speed manual transmission or the CVT. In addition, the 3.0 liter 181 hp V6 has all wheel drive and uses 5 speed automatic transmission. The VUE uses gas at a conservative 20 mpg clip in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
The VUE does come with some caveats. First, despite foldable rear and passenger seats with ample leg room for everyone, some reviewers warn that taller consumers may find the VUE a tight fit. In addition, engine noise can detract from the enhanced CVT performance. However, despite these minor issues, the 2002 Saturn VUE combines solid performance and innovative technology into one family friendly package.
