For those looking for serious torque, Ford offers one of two 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 engine options. The standard Power Stroke makes 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. The upgraded, high-output version of this diesel engine makes 500 horsepower and a stupendous 1,200 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels or to available four-wheel drive (4WD) through a 10-speed automatic transmission. 4WD is standard on XLT trims and above. Towing and hauling figures for the new Super Duty were not available at the time of this writing; however, Ford claims best-in-class capacities. More than just big towing numbers, Ford equips the Super Duty with the tools to tow effectively and safely. The Ford Pro Upfit system allows for easy integration of common power equipment.
