Infiniti’s all-wheel drive system can shift up to 50 percent of available power to the rear wheels for better traction. The most significant change made to the QX50 for 2022 comes in the form of advanced driver aids, a handful of which are now standard. Infiniti’s ProPilot Assist tech is standard, along with blind spot warnings, lane departure warnings, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, predictive forward collision warnings, rear automatic braking, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The ProPilot Assist system functions as an advanced adaptive cruise control system and can center the vehicle in its lane, accelerate, and brake to help reduce distraction and fatigue on longer drives. Neither the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have rated the 2022 QX50, but the 2021 model scored well in IIHS testing, earning “Good” ratings in crash tests and a “Superior” score for vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention systems. Every QX50 gets a dual-screen infotainment system with 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower screens. Though the visual effect is impactful, the system requires learning to use and can be clunky and confusing. The top screen handles infotainment and other features, while the lower display handles vehicle settings, such as climate controls. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto are standard, and the included Wi-Fi hotspot can handle up to seven devices at once. Elsewhere in the cabin, leatherette upholstery is standard, along with eight-way power front seats, dual-zone automatic climate controls, rear air vents, six speakers, HD Radio, Bluetooth, voice commands, and five USB inputs. Upper trims get additional features that include a Bose 16-speaker stereo, navigation with real-time traffic, a head-up display, tri-zone automatic climate controls, heated rear outboard seats, and either leather or semi-aniline quilted leather upholstery. The 2022 Infiniti QX50 is on sale now with a starting price of $40,025, including a $1,025 destination charge. The top Autograph trim starts at $57,975.
