Avg. Dealer Rating: (5 reviews) "BUYER BEWARE - This my personal experience and my personal opinion about how Bob Baker Mazda in Carlsbad, Ca poorly handled selling me a damaged car. I went into their dealership on 4/8/18 to negotiate to buy a 2010 MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS E 350 coupe, Stock # MT26056, VIN #WDDKJ5GB2AF015534. I have copies of emails, pictures of the car and text messages from the sales guy, his name is Ian and he also goes by Greg. I've posted pictures of this car on yelp, please see the Yelp page for: Bob Baker Mazda Carlsbad for my review and pictures. My review is for the benefit of helping others to not make a potential mistake of buying a car that in my opinion, has damage. It should be priced to reflect the real price that should include, in my opinion the damage that I could see. In addition I want to make people aware of how their sales dept. and sales manager tried to sell me, in my opinion a damaged car and refused to negotiate after their poor attempt to use inflated pricing. They initially admitted the car had damage and made an attempt to discount the car but it was based on their inflated “MSRP” price which brought the price down the listed price posted on their website. No one sells a used car at "MSRP" becuase it's a used car. I wasn’t willing to accept that price, there wasn't any discount. It was such a slap in the face, how do you admit that the car has damage, make a cr@ppy attempt at discounting the car because of visable damage and then say we’re not discounting the car after you realize that you have start discounting the price at the listed price that was posted on their own website, Cargurus.com and autotrader.com. Based on what I could see when I looked at the car, the damage is located on the left front quarter panel, above the left front wheel and the driver’s door. In my opinion, there’s no way to know who much damage this car has, so if you’re looking at buying it, I would definitely take it to a mechanic and a body shop to verify this car doesn’t have damage. When I took these pictures, you can see that the driver’s door and the left front quarter panel is missing the chrome trim, but on one of the pictures the damage that was done to the driver’s door and it was painted over. They didn’t even try to smooth out the surface of the door. *** Take a look at the right side of the driver’s door, near the bottom of the door, almost next to the chrome trim that’s on the rear quarter panel, if you make a line from that chrome trim, you can see a line of bumps on the surface of the door that someone painted over. Once the chrome trim is put back on the car you may not see that the door was painted. In my opinion, they are hoping that no one notices this damage. In addition, the paint that was used on the driver’s door and the left front quarter panel does not match the rest of the car, you have to look closely but you will tell that in my opinion the car was recently painted from some type of damage. The paint is not as reflective as to the rest of the car. In my opinion, there’s no way to know how much damage this car has because and in my opinion, there going to try to hide the damage from the person who’s looking to buy it. The left front rim does look like it's a new rim and doesn't match the rest of the rims. The salesman said that the took the car on a trade in and that’s how the car was, so there’s no way to know, in my opinion, who repaired and painted the car. In my opinion, it could have been repaired in Tijuana, there’s no way to know. They have raised the price, but it doesn’t change the fact that this car has, in my opinion, body damage. The salesman’s excuse was “we’ve put money into the car and we have to get that money back, so we can't reduce the price of the car”. He also added, “you may have noticed the damage but someone else may not, so we’re not discounting the price”. But I do hope by writing this it makes people aware that this car in my opinion has body damage and the car buying public should be aware of this. In my opinion, I hope this helps someone before they make a huge mistake from buying this car that could be a major headache, because in my opinion this car is not worth what they are trying to sell if for. Best of luck to you, in my opinion I would look at other cars, there are a number of them out there. ** I have submitted a response on yelp from somone from this dealership that tried to chastise me for writing my review. He didn't at any time try to call me to understand my concerns. This is what review websites are for. "
