Lincoln recently introduced its latest foray into the luxury crossover SUV market. The new-for-2010 Lincoln MKT is a seven-passenger midsize crossover that’s loaded with power, performance, handling, and features. The ’10 MKT is offered in one trim level, the Base MKT, available with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). An AWD-only EcoBoost package that includes a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6, Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels is also available, effectively adding an extra, higher-end trim level.
Among the innovations for the 2010 MKT are a rear-isolating suspension that improves the handling characteristics on the EcoBoost package with its larger wheels, and the twin turbos, allowing the V6 to save on fuel while providing the power of a normally aspirated V8. The standard engine for the ’10 MKT is a 3.7-liter V6 that, in combination with the standard six-speed automatic transmission, puts out 270 hp at 6,500 rpm and 267 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. An average of 24 mpg is expected for the 3.7-liter V6.
The innovative EcoBoost 3.5-liter powerplant is a twin-turbo V6, with the oomph of a normally aspirated V8, but the fuel economy of a V6. The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 uses the same six-speed automatic as the 3.7-liter V6, but is capable of 355 hp at 5,700 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm. EPA mileage estimates are not yet available for the 3.5-liter V6.
Standard comfort and convenience features for the 2010 Lincoln MKT include leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, a power tilt-telescoping steering wheel, power-adjustable pedals, Sync voice-activated communications and audio-control systems, and a 10GB hard-drive music storage system. Options include the AWD EcoBoost package, a blind-spot alert system, a voice-activated navigation system with real-time traffic alerts, a THX II-certified Surround Audio system with 14 speakers, adaptive cruise control, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, active parking assist, and a power-operated Panoramic Vista sunroof.
Safety features standard with the ’10 MKT include four-wheel disc ABS with brake assist, stability and traction control, an anti-skid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags.
4.5 Overall rating
(12 reviews)I have a 2010 MKT. eco boost. Over all. It’s been pretty good. I replaced the heat under warranty. The struts need replacement at 135 k mile . Overall the maintenance hasn’t been too bad .
This car has been amazing!! 400,000 miles and it runs very strong, original engine and original transmission. 3.7L (non-turbo). Literally doesn’t use a drop of oil between 7500 mile changes. Far more than I ever hoped for and keeps impressing me daily.
This was the perfect fit for my wife and our family. We are a family of 5 and our oldest has grown up (18 years old). So, that left us with really 4 now. Coming from a mini-van to a sedan was too big of a drop for us, so the MKT made sense & was a perfect fit. Our red MKT is fully loaded with navigation, satellite radio, DVD, cruise control, dual sun roof , THX surround sound and you can even change the color of the interior lights (cup holder/door handle areas). It is a bit larger than the MKX too. Give it a look as you will be pleasantly surprised :)
This car is AMAZING! I absoloutly love it, it handles AMAZINGLY! I love it!! It is probably the best car I have ever owned! I am so glad I bought it. It is the funnest car ever! It is so spacious, And it drives GREAT! I love it!
At 10k mark the MKt still a wonderful car and motor. Acceleration from stand still is great, but from a rolling start or passing it is awesome. Grade A. Handling is great for a vehicle this size and weight 5000 lbs. Grade A. Braking is fair, it gets the job done but could be better. Grade B-. Appearance inside leather quality is excellent, downfall is there are a lot of parts from the FORD parts bin. Grade B+ Appearance Exterior - can you say EXCLUSIVE nothing looks like the MKt from the front or the rear Grade - A Build quality is good, a loose trim panel was snapped back in by me, no rattles or squeaks Grade A- Maintenance - two oil changes and tire rotations - no charges yet! Gas Mileage - It could be better averaging 14 mpg, 1 mpg less than my old Mercury so I'm not teribly upset because now I have All-whell drive and a bunch of toys, best was 18, I have not seen the 22 Grade C+ Fun to drive - yes it is Grade A+
