(6 reviews)Fun to drive car that was amazingly reliable. Had 100,000 miles and had zero problems. Handling was excellent, car looked great with tinted windows and new Enkei rims and Toyo tires (my wife and son got them for me for Father's Day). Hated to get rid of it!
This is actually my wife's car, but oh well. This car has been great to her and me and I hope to have this car for many years to come. It is a little sluggish on steep hills, but then again so are most four cylinders. I have had it up to 135 mph and it handles like a dream. Gets great gas mileage and is comfortable to drive/ride in.
its a honda so what can i say its my moms, it hauls ass when needed, its 4 speed auto and 4 cylinders make it reival the malibu (the nes one not my classic boo boo the apperence looks awsome duh, driven all over and still kicken ass
update. 12 years old 308k+ miles - still going strong! hard decision to do 100k check for timing belt and water pump, or save that expense towards a new car (most likely will be a honda) My car is perfect!! William & Angie will agree that the ideal car for me would clean and wash itself!! It is almost 10 years old, I have kept up with most of the maintenance, especially the major stuff. Performance is excellent - at times I am even impressed by its acceleration. Braking and handling are always predictable. You can't beat the quality of the build, no squeaks, and rattles have been easily repaired. One major accident with Bambi proved the exceptional design of the car. Though my air condition compressor was damaged, the car was still safe to drive, though I would not leave it like that. The sleek design makes it look like it's moving fast even when standing still. The interior design may not be superior but it has a few extras like holder for sun glasses and a hidden nicknack compartment - great for spare change. All controls like air, stereo, windows, sunroof, and cruise are within easy reach. Let's talk about fun - 5 speed stick shift!!! What's not fun???? If you don't drive a stick, you wouldn't understand!
This is the best car I've had the pleasure to own, not that I've had an illustrious history of car ownership. Let's start with the driving, it's no Lotus but it will hustle around those corners and hold its line without much drama. The suspension is a touch too soft for real hard driving even though it is stiffer and lower down than the standard four door model. It also doesn't help that none of the V6 models came with a manual transmission (The automatic is pretty supple and obedient). The V6 which is rated at 200 horsepower pulls strong, even at lower revs but really hits its stride above the VTEC line of about three and a half thousand rpm. It's a bit of a lazy and subdued engine but if you listen closely there is a pretty good howl at 4 thousand rpm. Braking power is provided by four disk brakes, which work very linearly but are about as mushy as oatmeal. (6.7/10) Honda's build quality has never been suspect and the Honda Accord really shows it. Everything on the car still works well, none of the materials have become cracked or worn (except for the driver's seat leather). The only problem with the car has been a warped front rotor, which was a pretty easy to repair problem. Other than routine replacements the car has been a doll. (8/10) She's a beauty, probably the best looking car Honda has made save the S2000. And they had to go ahead and ruin it with the ugliest ass this side of the Pontiac Aztek (ok maybe it's not that bad). The rear spoiler on my EX model helps mask the horror but it is an atrocious mess of an odd angle, shape and look. Honda could have had something really special had they patched the gorgeous front end of this car to the handsome back end of that year's Prelude. Between the performance and styling of the Accord Coupe, the Prelude was destined to die out anyway. It is a pretty good combination of grace and style. (7/10) From a practical standpoint the Accord Coupe loses out pretty badly to its four door brethren. Comfort level is high but rear legroom is only good if you are a child of two. Getting in and out of the rear seats is just as awkward. Trunk space is adequate but nothing more. As for gas mileage, it is average. 22 in town and 30+ on the highway was observed, not bad for a 3 liter V6 from yesteryear. (6/10) Above all else, it's a cruiser. It's a little heavy and large to really enjoy on the very technical corners but in the sweeping bends it is a pleasure. Very easy to find a line and hold it. The steering is tight and nicely weighted, when it can keep up. The grip is great with the inherent understeer rearing its head in a very predictable manner. (7/10) I don't think I would recommend this car to a friend, it looks pretty good and it is very well equipped (automatic climate control, leather, premium sound, etc.) and the performance is there. But there are several other cars that can do a better job in all the specific areas this one strives for. It isn't powerful or hard enough to really be considered a performance car, it is also not economical or practical for regular use. And if it were really trying for the cruiser crown, lady Honda would need to take off her top. (Then again, given the choice, I'd take the kinky topless S2000 any day).
