Used 1967 Dodge Polara for Sale near Oregon

This car has a 383 super comando, 3 speed tranmission, bucket seats, new convertible top, am radio, 14" tires, drum breaks, dual exhaust and a/c. runs and drives great, just like a cadillac!! Its definitely a head turner. fun

I owned this car in the mid-70s. Had dual exhaust installed and replaced the weak 2 barrel carb with a 780 Holley 4 barrel as well as a few other tweaks like flex fan, better distributor weights and springs, and performance air cleaner. Performance wise, first gear would take you to 70 MPH, 2nd to 110, and 3rd was off the speedo but I estimate about 140 to 145 as the needle pointed straight down toward the floor. I took it to a drag strip in South Carolina (I was in the Army and stationed at Fort Gordon, GA) and did 14.6 at 95 MPH in the 1/4 mile. It was a lot of fun beating so-called performance cars with this sedate looking sleeper. The car was very comfortable on long trips. I would do the 900 mile trip from Fort Gordon back home to Detroit in about 14 hours. The gas mileage of 15 MPG at around 80 MPH on the highway was not bad for a car weighing about 4,000 pounds. The 2.76 rear gear helped with that. Interior space was exceptional. Back then full size really meant something. The trunk was cavernous and the back seat sat 3 adults with elbow room to spare. Ride comfort was very good but handling was kind of floaty. Sway bars would benefit this car tremendously. Worst thing about this car was the 4 wheel drum brakes. With 5 or 6 people in the car it felt like it took a half-mile or more to slow down from 70 to 0. If I had another one I would definitely invest in disc brakes, at least for the front. All in all, I really enjoyed owning my Polara. Forty years and dozens of cars later, it is still one of my favorites.
