Problem starting 2004 Saturn ion

I recently had to replace the complete
ignition for a 2004 Saturn ion. Now
everything is installed and ready to drive
but it cranked over once but would not
start. Then a second try and nothing.
Battery is still charged. Do I need to
reprogram it somehow to make it
compatible with the alarm or where did I
go wrong. ? I replaced it cause someone
jammed a screwdriver instead of a key
and messed it all up. Please help. My only
car and need it like yesterday. Thank you

HI Frank, the newer vehicles, the keys are coded to the vehicle. So yes, you have to get it reprogrammed. A local mechanic, dealer or locksmith would be able to get you going. Call around to see who has the equipment.
