06 Vue Revving up, but not shifting

Asked by Jan 18, 2017 at 04:09 PM about the 2006 Saturn VUE V6 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Saturn Vue, AWD, V6 with 160k on it.  Recently the transmission
has been acting funny.  Between 30-45 the engine will rev up, as if the
transmission is going to shift, but it doesn't shift.  If I accelerate through,
beyond 45, it shifts and runs fine.  I'm thinking it might be a shift sensor, but
wanted some advice before I started disassembling the car.

I think it's the overdrive band that is burnt, which is internal to the transmission. 40-45mph is when the overdrive gear is activated. Is the fluid brown? I'd say your due for a trans rebuild.
