i own a 2006 saturn vue with a 3.5v6 honda motor i am the original owner truck has just about 74 thousand miles back in september i had the timing belt replaced,water pump, tensioner, idler, etc it was a complete timing kit (gates) it was done by a certified mechanic, problem is, ever since i had this timing belt done truck has never idled right!truck drives fine plenty of power but its rough at idle even in the morning when its cold and i let it warm up its very eratic! so i thought it was a timing issue bought it back to the mechanic he says nothing wrong with it! he put truck on the machine no codes nothing! he tells me this is the way these engines idle! i know thats wrong cause before he did the timng belt truck idled fine! could it be that something else is causing the truck to idle rough? its got all new plugs, filters, replaced 2 sensors i baby this truck, but this rough idle is driving me crazy!! if anyone can help me on this matter it would be greatly appreciated! thanks nick in n.y.

Was it a GM or Honda Mechanic? I actually would have probably brought it to a Honda mechanic if I were in your situation where the motor was known to be Honda. There is a chance that maybe they are 1 tooth out of sync on the timing belt replacement and this is causing you problems. V6s don't usually have rough idle, I did have a 3.0 L Honda Accord and the idle was very smooth. Assuming the mechanic only touched the front of the engine to change the timing belt, there is always a chance he forgot to re attach a vacuum hose that he had to take off to do the repair. Check that first. Another thing, does the 3.5 L Honda have solid or hydraulic lifters? My 3.0 l had solid so those need to be adjusted every so often, but not sure what the 3.5 has. I would bring it to a Honda Mechanic, if might be that they have to check the timing belt install.... hopefully its something more simple.
