with latch held for unlock to open , use pry bar and use pressure while hammering with rubber mallet

Ok I'll try that, but what will I be actually prying and hitting on ?

I had the same problem and it was a child safety lock that had been activated. Can't remember what the service representative did at dealership. There's something around door that activates the safety mechanism.

I'm curious what happened? I have a 2008 Saturn Vue and have the same issue with the rear passenger door. It is not a child safety issue that I know of.

Try an auto body shop, because it's cheaper. I do it all the time.

Ram the door with your sholder over and over while holding the handle up and pulling it will open. I had the same problem.
