Check engine light on. 2006 saturn vue. What could be the cause?

It could be something as simple as an oxy sensor, But it could be something more serious. I'd go to a local auto parts store and have them put the diagnostic tester on it.

It could be a number of things. Thats why you need to have it diagnosed and see what codes come up. Mine came on and it was a canister near gas tank that collects gas vapors. So you see its not necessarily the engine much to my surprise.
