Asked by Jun 04, 2016 at 01:36 PM about the 1995 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XL 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Why does my rpm all of a sudden idle up and down
in my truck? Why did my overdrive light start
blinking off?

Idle searching can be caused by a number of things, dirty throttle body, partially restricted ISC unit, TPS misread or intermittent open, O2 sensors, fuel pressure, so you might want to get the codes pulled and see where that sends you to for further diagnostic of your problem. HTH

Overdrive light flashing is also an indicator of a current failure in one or more of the transmission shift solenoids, again a code check should find this if it is a good scanner.
