Knocking sound

Asked by Quisha Feb 10, 2016 at 06:14 PM about the 1995 Ford Explorer 4 Dr Eddie Bauer 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 Eddie Bauer explorer. After having a
starter put on, there's a knocking sound coming
from the driver's side. It only knocks when moving
and gets faster with acceleration. Could it be the
engine or should I check something else first?

The noise coincided with the new starter? A loud metal on metal knock could be a rod knock in the engine. Did you check to make sure the starter is not loose?

Yes it started after the starter. Can't really say if it's metal on metal, but I could feel it on the floor of the driver side.
