Porsche Triptonic Tranny won't shift

Asked by Nov 24, 2015 at 06:43 AM about the 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 Porsche 911 c4s triptonic seems to be stuck  in second
gear.Everything seemed fine on a recent drive until I came out of the shop to
head home. The car would not shift. Fuel levels were all ok. My mechanic
suggested a sensor but did not know if it was an outside sensor or one inside
the tranny. Anyone have any ideas

Double check your transmission level. Your mechanic should be familiar with symptoms. But, it appears to be one of those things, that will require a visit to the shop. Make sure they describe what the problem is along with the remedy. -good luck-

I had the same problem with my 997 cabrio after checking the fuses to diagnose why I couldn't get certain functions of the car to work front and read lids opening no rear lights and not being able to bring down the top. This stemmed from a seal on the top letting water bypass when in heavy rain (BTW in the owners manual Porsche says this is normal.....Really!) To sum it up I found that there are several fuses that control the operation of the tiptotronic transmission. I would do some peeking around before you take it to the Porsche dealer. They would charge you for the oxygen you consume while in there if they could, Ex I had the "visit workshop light" come on and did some research on the forums to see if others had the same problem and what they did to remedy it. What I found were a whole slew of people saying that they were charged thousands upon thousands for things that did nothing to remedy the situation besides lightening the owners wallets. I fixed it myself at a red light by simply plugging in a $20 diagnostic tool and simply resetting the light not to have it return......For free
