Not much to go on but probably a 5.0 w/170 HP.

The VIN will help. If the 8th digit is an F, it was made with a 305 CID, engine RPO LB9, Multiport Fuel Injection type. If it is an E it was made with a 305 CID, engine RPO L03, throttle body type. If it is an 8, it is a 350 CID, engine RPO L98. Once you know the engine RPO you can find out the original HP from several sources - try thirdgen.org and do a search there. If the VIN digit is either an S or a T, the car began life as a V6 not a V8. For a listing of all RPO codes, look for a label inside your console or inside the lockbox under the rear hatch. It will read "SERVICE PARTS IDENTIFICATION LABEL" and show all RPO codes that were original to the car. If the label is not there or not readable, the Thirdgen website will provide some search engines the will list your RPO codes after you enter your VIN. One of them is compnine.com. From their home page, select "Research" and the "VIN Decoder". Good luck.
