engine is always racing

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

changed the throttle position sensor and is still racing. What would be the nest step to fix the engine racing?

Check the throttle cable, it might be binding.


If it's not the cable you could try the idle air control valve. If the plunger is stuck open you will have a higher than normal idle.


All of the above and check for vacuum leaks, an unmetered air leak can cause a very high idle.
