Got a code 26 on my 93 firebird trans am it is the evap it is always runnin and causein car to run bad how do I fix
Its a code 26, quad driver module fault
have to look up what this means exactly...same as you~
Got a quad carburetor?
hasn't got one of those belt-driven Oatmeal canister---the "air pump" to finish off any unburned gasses...was only a couple of years they used THIS smog device...this is a throttle body injection X 4?
It has a canister and is always running and when it finally shuts off car runs fine
Sounds like it is running anyway
Car is a 1993 with a 5.7 in it
Hope that helps you and thank you
Quad-Driver Module (QDM) #1 circuit applies to: - AIR pump relay circuit - EGR solenoid - EVAP solenoid
So how do I fix problem
inspect the EGR device, they can get crudded with carbon and not open on de-celeration...but stay open during acceleration...which is okay if we are trying to drop the combustion temperature (it's complicated and sucky)...but if it is malfunctioning will impeded correct air/fuel mixture from reaching combustion properly~
You can clean it with brake cleaner and put it back...you do not have to buy a new one~
Thank you to all who have helped me I will let you know if it fixes the problem thanks again
Where is the canister at
here's a closeup, then a scale view~ part three----that coffee can w/fittings~
That's the EVAP canister. The EGR Valve and Solenoid are located on the rear of the intake manifold.
