Firebird locked into park

Asked by cookie7396 Apr 27, 2016 at 10:01 AM about the 1994 Pontiac Firebird Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought 1994 firebird v6 and stereo is
disconnected. They said card would lock into park
and strand driver if stereo was hooked up. All I can
think is a ground kicking out selnoid in some way?
Any suggestions because this makes no sense to
me. (Ps..I'm a girl and I got this car for my 16 yr old
daughter to help me work on. Thought it would be
good if she knew her way around a car before
going to college so diagrams and simple language
is greatly appreciated)

I would say go to a stereo shop and have a new stereo put in and they could figure the problem out for you.
