I have a 1995 bonneville and we have replaced the battery but it still will not crank even though it gets spark; a friend said their was a line coming from the battery to the engine...need some help!
ok lets start from the top. 1. Does the car crank when you turn the key ? 2. have you checked the starter and or power cables going to the starter? if not just trace the big red cable back to it. 3. Check the fuses and relay's as these can also play a likely culprit. 4. Now if all the above are fine try checking the cars security, if your key has a little black chip in the middle of it that means your car has security in it if the car is not reading the chip then you get no crank. it is also not to uncommon for the contacts to get dirty or one of the wires to break from lots of use. *to check the key to see if it works use volt meter on either side of the metal bars of the key on the black chip on ohms. it should read a certain level for your car you can do this in your cars ignition as well they should read the same. If none of the above is the issue let me know
