CV Shaft Continuously Breaking

Asked by Jul 24, 2017 at 10:45 PM about the 1999 Pontiac Sunfire 4 Dr SE Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have had this sunfire for a while and it is
now the second one to do this, the first ones
trans blew after it began. Everytime we place
a new CV Shaft into the car, the rubber boot
closest to the trans almost immediately
becomes damaged, whether it be the rubber
getting a hole or the metal clamp that holds
it down comes off. Any ideas what could be
causing it? And yes, we are locking the shaft
firmly in place.

Is their any vibrations noticeable while driving..sounds like something is horribly out of alignment causing the shaft to wobble breaking lose the boot and clamps..broken or lose motor mounts can cause this..

We actually figured it out last night. The motor mounts weren't just loose, they full on broke.
