'gargling' sound, lower part of engine upon acceleration.

Asked by May 10, 2015 at 08:57 AM about the 2000 Pontiac Sunfire SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Gurgling sound upon acceleration (higher rpms), new head gasket, new plugs, new spark
plugs and cables. Also, auto trans. loud 'clunk' when placed in gear except neutral. What
could these problems be? Thanks.

Sounds like you have air in the cooling system. When the cooling system was refilled after the head gasket replacement it should have been bled. HTH. -Jim
