2000 Pontiac bonneville

Asked by Sep 21, 2019 at 02:20 PM about the 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My check engine light is on and blinks. The
codes that pop are P0300 and P0452. I’ve
changed the plugs, wires, coils and fuel tank
pressure sensor and the car still acts the
same. Putters as u push on the gas pedal
and burns gas like crazy. Any advice on what
to do next would be greatly appreciated

A flashing check engine light is warning you that the engine is misfiring and damaging the catalytic converter. The P0300 code is a multi cylinder misfire code. The P0452 code is telling us there's a problem with the fuel tank pressure sensor, the wiring going to the pressure sensor, or the pressure inside the tank really is out of range. Try this for testing purposes. Remove the gas cap and start the engine. If it runs fine when the gas cap is off I'd suspect the vent valve is bad, or the EVAP system is clogged and a vacuum is being created in the gas tank. If a vacuum being created in the gas tank the fuel pump can't pump gasoline in the pressure and volume that the engine needs to run correctly. Hope that helps! Jim

Thanks I’ve changed out the plugs, wires and coil packs. Idk what else could be causing the misfire in the engine
