VIN # reflects coupe, upgrades reflect formula what do I have?

Asked by JadeintheDesert Feb 27, 2008 at 05:27 AM about the 2001 Pontiac Firebird Formula

Question type: General

I have a 2001 Firebird. I am in possession of the original showroom floor window sticker which proves all the upgrades and also states on it "2001 Firebird/Formula" just above the VIN #.  I had the VIN run thru my insurance company and they were puzzled to find that it reflected a regular Firebird not a Formula. I am confused now what I have as I have researched online Formula vs coupe specs and as well as I can determine my upgrades reflect Formula but then my car is a V-6.  Did they make Formulas in a V-6? Do VIN numbers not reflect Formula package in the information given?  Please advise.  Thank you.

Someone ordered a BASE firebird and then a bunch of options. Just be glad it comes in as a base model, the Formula firebirds command about 40% more in insurace permium. Just keep all the documents. So if you ever wnat to sell it you can prove it. I have a 1978 Firebird that shows it is a base title shows it is a Esprit and options that show it is a Formula/AM. Enjoy the car.
