noise coming from gauge on 2002 sunfire when you turn car on . fuel gauge drops to empty and check gauge light comes on. how to troubleshoot

Noise is usually the stepper motor, you can pick them up on Ebay, as far as false readings you will have to fix the stepper motor first.

do I need to replace all the stepper motors or just the fuel gauge. all the other gauges are fine


It might be a good idea to replace them all while your in there, that way the units all start out new. just make sure you follow the directions.
