pontiac aztek snaps in front when I move car-what is the bang or snap?

Asked by Jun 24, 2014 at 06:12 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Aztek STD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have checked bearings, engine mounts, drivelines(minimally),brakes, tie rods, and about
everything else in the front end, can't find the snapping or thump noise that occurs
during acceleration, seems to occur more often when car upshifts, and also when cars
weight is shifting left or right. is the problem a drieline?..just changed right front
bearing, changed left front bearing 2 years ago.newer left driveline.looked for cracks in
everything(there are none).I'm at a loss to figure what the noise is coming from????

How are the catalytic convertor heat shields and or exhaust hangers? Rusted and loose?
