wont restart after shutting it off, what could cause this?

Asked by May 29, 2014 at 01:23 PM about the 2004 Pontiac Aztek AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After driving it for 15-20 mins and shutting it off it will not restart and you have to let it sit for 10 min to a half hour (sometimes longer) and then it will run fine again. Iv taken it to 2 shops and all they would do is plug in a car doctor thing and nothing pops up so they say nothing is wrong. Any idea on what could be wrong?

BAD fuel pump relay or fuel pump

That sounds like an old car vapor lock problem. Try cycling the key at least 5 times before you crank it. On to a 3 count off for 5 count. If it fires off after that then it is vapor locking, they make a fuel line covering for this problem. If it still won't start then do what TopShade stated.
