2005 Bonneville GXP, CEL is on and code is intake emission leak. How can I find where leak coming from?
You didn't state the engine but a lot of the 3800 series engines intake manifolds fail right next to the EGR port and they also warp really bad, intake manifolds are available aftermarket so you won't have the expense of dealer parts, if you can't do the work yourself any good shop can do it.
The engine is V-8, 4.6L Northstar 275HP
Oh, Northstar..tenisshoes, you want to tell him?
Tshoes may be gone...Did you get P0701 or P0704? The Northstar is notorious for intake manifold problems, check out: http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/pontiac/bonneville/2005/ Now your question, finding the leak? Look, more like inspect, all vacuum hoses, listen closely and maybe you can even hear it it idle, and there are products in aerosol cans, a dye that you can use very short squirts at it. It's "atomized" to a fine mist but visible to see where it may be sucking in. It works pretty good actually
