2018 Outback window issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My new-to-me 2018 OB has a confounding issue with the rear passenger
window. I can't open it from either the driver's panel or from the rear
passenger door unless the door is open. When the rear passenger door is
closed, neither driver nor passenger lever works. All other windows open
and close as expected, regardless of door position. FWIW, the window lock
is not engaged, the child safety lock on the rear passenger door is not
engaged (if that could have anything to do with it) and I have had no battery
issues where others have indicated resetting the window switch (apparently
this works only on the front passenger window, according to Subaru techs).
Has anyone else experienced this? Solutions? Thoughts? I'm stymied.

I would suspect, guess that you have a wiring issue in wiring loom feeding the door. You said it only works when the door is open, that would tell me an issue with the wiring in the door jam wiring that powers the door. Have a Subi tech diagnose it and rip into it.

Thanks. My thoughts as well. $150 just for Subi tech to diagnose/verify :( and unknown $ to fix. Does anyone know if wiring schematics are available online? I'm a (cheap) DIY-er whenever possible., (though willing to turn over to more experienced hands when outside my skillset).
