why does my coil wire keep going bad

the ignition system has a new control module, pickup, coil, and ignition switch.
It's an 87 E150 302 with fuel injection and electronic ignition.

worn spark plugs and worn spark plug cables can take out a coil, ignition module, coil...even computer. If the spark doesn't fire across the electrodes, that 40,000 volts has to go somewhere
