does the 1996 ford mustangs acceleration stop at 85 mph? My mustang wont let me go faster than 85.
Here's an exchange I found at the forum on V6Mustang.com ... There seems to be some dispute about a rev limiter on your Stang. here's the link to this thread in case you'd like to see more or join the forum and ask further ... Good luck! I have seen them do it tracks and have talked to people with 96 v6 autos and at the track they cannot get higher than 85 because of the rev limit. Now with 5 speed that is different because we can go 1 speed higher than them or leave it in fourth and not even enter fifth. And again, not all cars are the same, different years got different factors tunes, the comp may shut off fuel at a certain rpm only when you are really pushing the throttle open. Just something more to consider. I had posted this earlier but it must have gotten deleted. Your car will NOT stop at 85mph in any gear. It will only do that if you have installed a higher gear ratio than the stock setup without adjusting the computer.
