why do the rear windows go down by themselves and have to be pushed up by hand and the eventually go down again

window buttons do not work for rear windows but front ones are fine

The windows regulators failed and need to be replaced. Common issue with GM cars. Expensive for s shop to do it for what it is. If you can DIY all the better. My neighbor has wedges between the window and inside door panel to keep them up and the switches taped up because he doesn't want to pay for the repair.
