Oil gage on 1996 Ford explorer

Ok I just did most of the maintenance on the truck.
I do know my EGR valve pressure sensor has gone
out! But now I checked the motor oil and its
perfectly fine. But my oil gage keeps ticking bk and
fourth real fast and then staying on L. But the
motor oil is fine.... PLEASE HELP W ANSWERS

please calm down.. it could be several little tid bits that could be messing with you. This is NOT a page to get an attitude. I don't want to give you the wrong information first and foremost. There's a little piece called the oil sending unit that reads pressure. That could be going out or is out already. And the reason I took my time is because I like points on my profile and many of you don't like to give us points. And so the waiting continues. Like the 1400 points I have is a joke. So, I take my time.

It sounds like an oil pressure sensor or the connector to the sensor could be failing. To test it, turn your key to on position, don’t start it. Look at your oil gauge to see where the oil level is at. Then-disconnect your negative battery cable , go back to turn the key on, don’t start , your oil level should be at zero. If it reads your oil level is normal, change out the sensor and connector and connector. Sensor is failing.
