Asked by Jan 18, 2016 at 08:38 AM about the 1996 Ford Explorer 4 Dr Eddie Bauer 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have tranny fluid in my coolant but no
coolant in my tranny fluid, would a coolant
seal ? Or would a tranny fluid stop leak work,
it's just a temporary fix for couple days till I
get paid then putting new radiator in.

Would be the trany cooler in the radiator. I really wouldn't know of a fix other than taking it out for repair.

A sealer won't work even temporarily, you need a new radiator, or block off the transmission cooler coming out of the radiator and install a transmission cooler out in front. Might be able to find a good used one at a wrecking yard. The bad news is your are going to have to get the transmission flushed really good before the coolant/water mix does damage to the tranny.
