I own a 1992 4x4 pathfinder auto trans.Runs good,strong eng.,battery,etc.but having continual problems with only 'light ign.click'(dash lights,batt.,starter-FINE!)but only early colder 53 a.m.-nothing
1992 4x4 pathfinder auto trans won't even barely click(ign.)but battery strong
ONLY in calif.early 53-57 degree(approx.)'colder' mornings.No starter drag or
clicking(NOT starter or battery).Thought @ 1st maybe ignition switch but starts
every time with 'warmer mornings'.I'm only talking about calif. 'cold',which is
nothing & that's what auto does-nothing!
Check your cables on battery all the way down to starter, positive and ground,
Thanks! Will try that again. Can't understand why getting 'nothing' though literally over only a few degrees in 'colder a.m.' as opposed to later a.m., say 60 degrees, car starts right up immediately every time. Will clean cables &(term.posts) again @ battery to starter.Thankyou for feedback!Aloha.
Humidity will do a number on bad copper wiring, you may just need to replace them both, good luck with it.
Thanks! At 1 point, about 6 months back, did have some corrosion @ positive(I believe) copper/brass clamp & terminal post.Found after truck purchase & slow corrosion buildup later, that positive brass clamp was worn & would'nt tighten sufficientely @ post.Replaced with more durable lead clamp, thoroughly cleaned & greased both-problem solved, but only until most recent.Never cleaned though @ starter.Although cables 'appear' o.k.sounds like very reasonable, easy solution to try next. Thanks for input!
