69 chevelle radiator issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got a 69 chevy chevelle that has a radiator issue. Drove it
for about 5 min and realized coolant was low and leaking
steam from radiator cap. Replaced radiator cap (gasket
worn out) and refilled coolant. Next day drove for around
some and it ran fine. Few days later after about 30 min and
noticed it was running hot. Got home and radiator was
steaming again. Coolant is low from steaming off but car is
always parked in same spot and shows no signs of leaking
coolant. Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

Probably time for a new radiator or have a new core installed. If you do not have a coolant recovery tank you should add one.

Installed the recovery tank when I changed the cap. Any recommendations on new radiator brand? I usually go through summit racing but not sure brand. Thanks again.

There are high quality radiators like Mishimoto but I am sure there are other sources of quality radiators. Make sure the cap is the type that allows the coolant to flow back into the radiator when the engine cools off.
