Looking at buying 1998 or a 2002 Maxima, which model is more reliable? What is most common repair on each?

Was in accident. Owned a 1996 Maxima. Great car but it was totaled. Have  small budget and was wondering which one you thought was a more reliable model.

The 1998 would be like yours, in 2000, the car was redesigned. I always like to but the newer car vs the older, especially if both were in the same shape and taken care of. Drive both and have them checked out by a local mechanic before purchasing and make your deal.
