Why do my blinkers stop working during and after rain 97 thunderbird

Asked by Jul 10, 2015 at 11:58 PM about the 1997 Ford Thunderbird LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My brother gave me his car and told me about the blinkers he said sometimes they quit
working. Problem started after having new radio installed he said you can bump or smack
the steering wheel and sometimes it works and sometimes it only works for a few
seconds. He said he took it back to the place where he had the new radio installed and
they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I noticed that it happens during or after rain.

Does the car have controls for the radio on the steering wheel? Check for a bad ground connection at the radio. The turn signal switch in the steering column completes the circuit to ground to make the blinkers work. HTH. - Jim
