My 1999 Nissan altima Won't start up and I'm thinking should I junk it or fix it

My lights and gears turn on but my car won't start
up or turn over it's a clicking noise when I try to and
I'm scared it's the transmission I only had this car
for two months and since its shut off its been
sitting for 3 months I need help and Junk it or Get
it replace whats wrong every mechanic I've met
say it's either a starter or distributor and know one
really knows Need Help...Please

I had one of these...the oil seals around the distributor put oil IN the distributor and it failed...not any kind of fail but put the power on the detonation position...motor was a little bit wrecked after the replacement of the distributor...a great car with just a few minor technical glitches...that darned distributor full of oil is one of them~

get a New battery and assure the cables to the engine and the chassis are there and able to pull 80 amps~ wirebrush the connections with a dit of brake cleaner to expose the fresh connections~
