what could be the reason my compressor is not taking the freon?

When putting freon into compressor it just want allow any to go in.

did you screw tap to puncture the can, are you connecting to the LOW SIDE PRESSURE port,are you starting with the compressor off and then starting the compressor with it running on high, are you holding the can upside down when you open the value to release refrigerant? It's a gas - if the system is empty the gas will go in.

It could be you need to go get a vacuum pulled on your AC. YOU MAY ADD FREON BUT WITHOUT A PROPER VACUUM IT WILL LEAK RIGHT BACK DOWN

He did not say he filled it and it leaked out - he said none would go in - so at this point he hasn't been able to add any that could leak back out!

Probably should be taking it to a professional.

I'm well aware of what he said but without pulling a vacuum on the system first doing Shadetree Mechanics deems the system won't be able to receive all that it should take in to work properly

So taking it to a shop and properly putting Freon in it will work best
