Why does my 2000 Nissan Xterra quit running
While driving my xterra will start to run sluggish (like running out of gas) then will stop
running completely. If I wait a few hours it will start right up as if nothing ever happened. I
can drive it a few miles then it does the same thing all over again.
Check the fuel pressure, sound,s like fuel pump may be going bad.
I replaced the fuel pump, sending unit & the fuel filter when it starting doing this. Now after replacing these parts it still does it.
Fuel pump relay?
I am by no means, qualified to advise on mechanical issues, but want to relay my experience with a clotted catylatic converter. It seems to be, from what research I've done, a pretty common thing with this type vehicle. Just a thought, trying to help, and welcome comments.
Some say it COULD be the "crank position sensor"... I am unsure about this, but I replaced all of the above including the fuel pump relay and still it doesn't run more than maybe 3-5 minutes even at idle... the crank sensor is cheap enough about $15-20 but hard change out...
will let you know after I change it (crank position sensor) .... take care!
Had the same issue and as crazy as it may seem after replacing, fuel pump, crank sensor, and a few other things it turned out to be the distributor. Once I changed it the it ran just fine.
I replaced the distributor and believe it or not it runs like new again.
i already changed the distributor
Oh my gosh! Yall's post helped me a lot! we changed the distrbutor and cap and it still didnt work at first, so we went ahead and changed the modulator too and it works like a dream!!! yeah..thanks guys, hope my post helps yall too.
2003 nissan xterra 3.3, cranks but does not start. No codes, I replaced the distributor, checked fuel pump and fuel pressure ( 43 psi) . Any idea of what is going on? Thank you.
