5 spd transmission removal

Asked by May 11, 2015 at 11:06 AM about the 2000 Nissan Frontier 4 Dr SE 4WD Crew Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was in the process of replacing my motor (3.3 V6).  I ended up having to remove my
transmission to get the motor out.  Since I already removed the transmission, I sent it
to the shop to have it inspected and possibly rebuilt.  I would like to go ahead and
install the motor while waiting on the transmission.  Do I need to wait, or did I do
something wrong while removing the motor .  If anyone on here has had to replace a
clutch, motor or transmission, did you have this same problem?

It is SOP to take the engine and tranny out as a unit- it will be easier to just put them together again while it is on the floor- then put them back in as a unit-

Thank you for the quick response. Never thought to put them in as one unit, but I can see the process being much easier. Thanks again.
