1997 ford taurus HELP!
I need help! I don't know what to do :-( I have
a 1997 Ford Taurus. I've had it for about a
year it was given to me. It's always had this
one issue... Every so often, not all the time,
when I begin to drive the speedometer will
not increase but I can hear and feel like are
starting to accelerate but it struggles to get
past first gear I believe. It's not until I reach 3
RPMs than I feel it shift. It's not a bulky
clunky kind of shift just kind of a lunge
forward. If that makes sense? I don't know
what to do. I have about $1,000 to work with
for repairs which isn't much when you think
of rebuilding the transmission. But I'm
wondering if I might be able to just purchase
a used transmission with a warranty and
then have a friend of mine install it as he is
knowledgeable. I just don't know what to do.
I don't know if I should just sell it as is and
use that money plus the $1,000 towards a
down payment for a used car or if I should
try to keep this car. It's a pretty good car and
has 124000 miles on it. I just don't know
which is the wiser choice. Help help help!
