Static noise during acceleration in 2020 Ford Escape

Asked by Heather Nov 03, 2020 at 09:47 AM about the 2020 Ford Escape SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a new 2020 Ford Escape.  Within 2 weeks I noticed what sounds like
someone blowing into a microphone between 2 and 4k RPMs. Dealership
replaced the transmission, but it still makes the noise.  It sounds like it's in the
tach.  Performance doesn't appear to be impacted in any way.  What could this
be?

Do you hear the static from the radio? If so you have a RF problem that the dealer should fix under warranty.

Hi. No. There is no static from the radio. It sounds like it's coming directly from the tach. The dealership, like I said, heard the noise and said it was the transmission, suspected torque converted, so they just replaced the whole assembly.

Heather, were they ever able to figure it out? I just bought a 2020 escape and am dealing with the same issue and it’s driving me nuts.
