2003 Nissan Altima overheated, my mechanic says it needs a head gasket $15-1800. I use a wheelchair & need a newer car. What's your advice please.

Question type: General

Should I fix it and sell it or do people buy cars to fix up. Where do I
advertise it. I can't put a for sale sign in the car window in my
driveway. Tacky. and inspection up so can't drive to put anywhere
with a sign. Don't know what to do. Please advise me. I could use
someone to share thoughts. Thank you.

Blue book value is around 2,000 (assuming avg. condition and 100K miles), so you will never get back that 15-1800 for repairs if you are just going to sell it anyhow. If the car doesn't accommodate your needs and you were already planning to replace it, then don't bother making these repairs - just sell it as a mechanic's special. Ask around 1500 and take any offer above 800. You can list the car for sale here, or Craigslist. CL might be a better choice as they cater to the "mechanic's specials" crowd more.

I very much appreciate your obvious professionalism and the time you gave to help me. Thank you for your kindness
