was slammed into the car in back of the car in front of me. My
airbag still didn't go off why

The air bag sensor works from deceleration. Going from X mph to 0.in a pre-programmed time, milliseconds Since you were at a complete stop save the movement in to the car ahead...4 feet? Maybe less? there was no deceleration to deploy them

FordNut got it right, you have to be going over 30 MPH and then experience a very fast deceleration with what you would feel is a sudden stop, but it actually deploys slightly before you feel it.
