check engine sensor came on. went to auto parts store and readout says cat converter. what are my options?
make sure it's tuned properly, take it for a run to "clean" it, then re-test. The reason that it got buggered up must be dealt with first...or your next one will go bad too- Please do an analysis on how's the patient, doc...I'll be expecting the full report in the morning. read your codes..if you can, you'll probably find a bad O2 sensor and reminder to come in for your scheduled maintenance which apparently you've missed.
Agreed. Wish you had the code. But if it's anything like that (cat converter or 02 sensor), it won't hurt anything to keep running it for a little while (just not great for the environment). Unfortunately, you'll have to replace it to clear inspection, and it's not cheap. If the code is still there (not been reset) take it to your mechanic or the dealership, have them give their diagnosis and (sadly) just bite the bullet and get it fixed.
according to GURUs you drive it crippled like this, you cat ain't comin' back-
