Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the car goes into park and reverse with a clunk. does that light have anything to do with why the car seems like its in 4th gear all the time? do you think its a minor or major problem?

The Altima's have had issues with the brake master cylinder leaking brake fluid into the brake booster causing the fluid level to be low and turning on the VCD and Slip lights. Check your brake fluid level. If it is low, top it off and drive it to see if the lights come back on. Also take it to your Nissan dealer and have them look at it as soon as posible. A weak battery can also cause these lights to come on. Source(s): ASE Certified Nissan Master Technician
